Emergency Procedures

Emergency Conditions Response
VISIBLE FLAMES in BUILDING 1. Try to extinguish, if small. Magnet safe extinguisher is located in magnet room.
2. Help anyone in the magnet room to get out
3. PRESS SYSTEM SHUT-OFF BUTTON, red button on the wall above the console computer. This will shut off the system power.
4. LEAVE BUILDING
5. CALL 911 on a campus phone.
SMOKE in BUILDING 1. PRESS SYSTEM SHUT-OFF BUTTON, the red button on the wall above the console computer. This will shut off the system power.
2. Help anyone in the magnet room to get out
3. LEAVE BUILDING
4. CALL 911 on campus phone (note, there is a campus phone immediately outside the East door)
LIFE THREATENING HUMAN INJURY in MAGNET due to CRUSHING Or IMPALING METAL 1. PRESS QUENCH BUTTON mounted on the wall to the right of the magnet. Note: This is expensive and could damage the magnet.
2. CALL 911 on campus phone
3. Try to help injured person without adding to injuries while waiting for EMT.
MEDICAL EMERGENCY 1. ASSIST VICTIM if it is safe to do so. A first aid kit is located in prep room 1.
2. Call 911 from a campus phone.
SEVERE EARTHQUAKE 1. Help anyone in magnet room to get out of the building if they are not severely injured
2. If anybody is INJURED, CALL 911 from a CAMPUS PHONE.
VIOLENT PERSON 1. Move to a safe area if possible.
2. CALL 911 from a CAMPUS PHONE.
LOOSE ANIMAL 1. CLOSE DOORS to ISOLATE
2. CALL 911 from a CAMPUS PHONE if no one can safely catch the animal.
QUENCH 1. Help anyone in the magnet room to get out of room.(note that room might quickly fill with Helium gas which could displace most of the oxygen and cloud the room with a very cold thick cloud of fog. Be sure to open the door to try to let out some of the helium and to let in fresh air.
2. CALL 911 from a CAMPUS PHONE. Contact Aaron Jacobson 619-971-0444.

EMERGENCY SOUNDERS RESPONSE
HALLWAY FIRE ALARM 1. CLEAR the Building
OXYGEN SOUNDER 1. OPEN magnet room door
2. Use emergency O2 tank for emergency breathing in room
3. HELP anyone in the magnet room to get out of the magnet room but be aware of possible low O2 level in the room.
4. CALL CAMPUS 911 to notify
