Center for Functional MRI In the Department of Radiology

Courses

Biomedical imaging has the potential to transform many disciplines. Imaging is necessarily an interdisciplinary collaboration, and for this reason training at both the pre-doctoral and post-doctoral levels needs to transcend traditional departmental boundaries. To serve this need, faculty from the CFMRI, in collaboration with other colleagues at UCSD, have developed the following courses:

Course Number Description Faculty
BENG 280A Principles of Biomedical Imaging Dr. Thomas Liu
BENG 278 Magnetic Resonance Imaging Laboratory Dr. Eric Wong
COGSCI 260 (B00) Fundamentals of Functional Neuroimaging Dr. Thomas Liu

In addition to the formal courses, Dr. Richard Buxton's book Introduction to Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging: Principles and Techniques (Cambridge University Press, 2nd edition 2009) provides a useful guide to the field for both experienced and novice fMRI investigators.
